Lake of Gennesaret

Lake of Gennesaret
Lake of Gennesaret, also known as Sea of Galilee and Sea of Tiberias, is actually a lake on the Jordan River about 80 miles north of Jerusalem. Lake of Gennesaret / Sea of Galilee is where the Bible says Peter fished, Jesus walked and calmed the storm. Only 35 miles in circumference, the picturesque Lake of Gennesaret is small enough for you to rent a bicycle and peddle around in a day. But many of the Biblical sites are tough to reach by bus or bicycle, so those on a tight schedule may wish to rent a car.

Travel Tip
Although I hitched and got rides fairly easily around the Sea of Galilee, I don't recommend hitching. But if you find yourself in a bind and having to hitch (anywhere), you may find these tips useful: (1) position yourself where the oncoming drivers will have time to check you out, preferably after having stopped or slowed down; (2) smile at the drivers until they pass; (3) make sure there is enough space behind you for them to stop easily; (4) don't get in if you get bad vibes; and (5) decline rides from men if you're a woman.
