That raises the question:
why was Jesus crucified? Jesus is
God, right? So why did God have to be crucified? The Bible says Jesus was crucified to save us from
our sins (
John 1:29), but what
does Jesus being crucified mean to people who don't feel like sinners?
We'll address below why Jesus was crucified in detail, but here is
Golgotha, the "
place of a skull", as it appears today.
Even though
the skull's nose has eroded and the mouth now lies below the asphalt cover, the eye sockets are
still visible
(compare with old photo).
After taking this photo of where Jesus was crucified, I was floored.
Why is the place where Jesus was
crucified the back wall of a bus station? I had learned that Biblical Christians lack political
power in
Jerusalem but this was a bit much. Shouldn't the place
where Jesus was crucified be at least kept quiet so that people can
take a moment to ponder why Jesus was crucified?
So let's address the key question:
why was Jesus crucified?
Do you know which very famous American once said:
